Biography

Dr. Abdulmajid Obaid Hasan Saleh serves as Shariah Consultant (Shariah Expert) at the Institute of Islamic Finance & Technology (IIFT). He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he also serves as Coordinator. He earned his Ph.D. in Fiqh — Islamic Finance from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Morocco.

With more than a decade of academic leadership — including service as Dean and Lecturer at the University of Aden — his expertise spans Islamic commercial law, Islamic banking products and operations, Maqasid al-Shari'ah, Islamic wealth management, and the jurisprudence of contemporary financial transactions. He is an active researcher and prolific author, and has served on the Shariah committees and supervisory boards of Islamic financial institutions, including Al Rajhi Banking and Investment Corporation (Malaysia) and Al-Qutaibi Islamic Bank for Microfinance.

Mandate at IIFT

  • Provide Shariah advisory and oversight across IIFT's academic programmes and professional certificates
  • Ensure the Shariah compliance of curricula in Islamic banking, finance, and governance
  • Advise on Islamic financial products, contracts, and contemporary fiqh issues
  • Strengthen IIFT's scholarly standing through research and institutional partnerships
